What the research addresses
Planetary science examines bodies throughout the Solar System. Measurements of surfaces, interiors, atmospheres and interactions provide the environmental context needed to interpret proposed signs of habitability.
What this does not establish
Interesting chemistry or a changing surface is not automatically biological. Environmental models and instrument limitations must be considered.
