Terrestrial organisms survive in environments that challenge familiar assumptions about life. Studying their requirements helps identify possible environmental analogues and design life-detection experiments.
What this does not establish
An Earth organism in an extreme environment is evidence about Earth life. It does not demonstrate that a similar organism exists elsewhere.
